FLASH RESULTS

Twin Oaks Golf Course - April 6, 2014

The Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos was the venue for our first golf event in April.  It was an "Ace" of a day!  The game of the day was "Ace" which just means you take your gross score for 18 holes minus your course handicap to get your net score.  Everyone apparantly paid close attention to the Pace of Play guidelines because we all enjoyed a 41/2 hour round.  Great going Ladies!

Winners:

Lowest Net 1st Place: Kerry Rauch with a net 65!

Lowest Net  2nd Place: Bobbie Zinker with a net 66!

        CTTP (hole 17): Bonnie Smith

“Helping others is the way to Higher Individual Well Being”1

Our San Diego Team at the CA Cup!

California Cup 2013

Twelve San Diego Chapter ladies traveled to compete in the 7th Annual California Cup tournament in Monterey October 25 – 27.  Team members were: Melissa Bright, Lynne Cardarelli, Susan Crawford, Wendy Eagle, Nancy Homer, Suzanne LaTour, Mary Lou O'Keefe, Connie Pasterkiewicz, Marie Shannon, Christine Shorkey, Dorothea Sledge, and Lois Spence.

We played the beautiful Blackhorse and Bayonet Golf Courses in Seaside.  This annual competition among the 12 California Chapters follows the Solheim Cup format of 3 teams of FourBall and 3 teams of Alternate Shot on Saturday, and 12 individual matches on Sunday for each chapter.  The San Diego Chapter had one win (Connie Pasterkiewicz and Chris Shorkey) and one tie (Susan Crawford and Marie Shannon) in the team competition and six winners in the individual competition (Dorothea Sledge, Marie Shannon, Melissa Bright, Susan Crawford, Lynne Cardarelli, Wendy Eagle).   Congratulations Ladies!  Sonja Stevenson was the team captain and helped keep everyone informed and organized.  The weather was quite nippy and the greens played like an ice rink!  Saturday night, the team enjoyed a great dinner at the Fish Hopper in Cannery Row.

 Thanks to everyone who participated!

Need an Update on Match Play rules?  The full set and "quick and dirty."

PACE OF PLAY PLEDGE

EWGA San Diego Chapter members are busy women.  Thus, pace of play at our golf events is important.  We ask you to join us in speeding our pace of play by making these simple commitments to pace of play:

1.  We will play "ready golf" unless it is an official Tournament.
2.  We will pick up on a hole when we've reached our maximum strokes (equitable stroke control).
3.  We will move quickly to our ball. When our balls are relatively close, we will drop off our golf cart partner and then go to our ball
4.  We will be prepared (have a provisional ball handy; bring extra clubs when walking to the ball; limit practice swings).

If you have other suggestions to add to the pledge, please share them with education@ewga-sd.org.
